As the summer approaches and, hopefully, the weather gets better Wegies will be making their obligatory pilgrimage to coastal towns in Ayrshire and to Loch Lomond.
But, for those heading to Balloch or further up Loch Lomond-side there's something you should know.
Many fail to realise that there's many lovely places en-route to Loch Lomond that are generally ignored by the vast hordes of urban dwellers.
One of them being The Railway Inn in Bowling, a perfect place for a meal and a drink after a hard day out at the lochside.
As you may have guessed The Railway Inn is next to a railway station and so if you've brought the car but decide that you fancy a wee drink in The Railway Inn you can always just get the train home!
Be warned though, the locals in Bowling are rather fond of a sing song so it's not uncommon for some karaoke singing to see in the evening.
The restaurant menu has a vast array of European dishes at reasonable prices and, in particular, excellent Scottish dishes. Mains vary from Smoked Trout and Breaded Scampi to Lasagne Verdi, wonderful Gammon Steak and the chef's own recipe of Steak and Kidney Pie.
Chef Derek has had 18 years experience as a leading chef and has even cooked for members of the Royal Family!
All in, The Railway Inn provides quality food and service with a genuine smile. So next time you're passing The Railway Inn don't be afraid to pop in and savour the food and drink for yourself.
